Frequently Asked Questions

About DanceToday.Fun

Where is the studio located?

  • Wedding dance lessons and coaching, including private instruction and online options for couples preparing for their first dance.

Yes. We offer private dance lessons for individuals and couples.

Private lessons are customized to your goals, experience level, and the type of dancing you would like to learn. Whether you are completely new to dancing or looking to improve your skills, we will meet you where you are.

How do I register?

Simply choose the private lesson, wedding dance option, or online course you are interested in and follow the registration or booking instructions on our website.

3.2 Validity Period for Group Lessons.

  • All group lessons purchased have expired and the group lessons are no longer being offered.

  • Promotional purchases, such as Groupon offers, have all expired and are no longer accepted.

4.3 Unused Lessons: All lessons must be booked and used within the 12-month validity period. Any unused lessons remaining after the expiry date are considered expired and are no longer available for booking, refund, credit, exchange, or transfer.

4.4 Past Purchases: The one-year validity period applies from the original purchase date. The fact that a lesson or portion of a package was never used does not extend or restart the validity period.

4.5 Booking Before Expiry: It is the purchaser’s responsibility to schedule and complete their lessons before the expiry date. Booking availability close to an expiry date cannot be guaranteed, so customers are encouraged to book their lessons well in advance.

4.6 Exceptions and Extensions: Any extension or exception to an expiry date must be expressly approved in writing by Baila Vancouver Dance Inc. dba DanceToday.FUN. Providing an exception or courtesy extension in one situation does not change this policy or create an entitlement to an extension for any other customer or purchase.

4.7 Purchase-Specific Terms: If a receipt, invoice, checkout page, registration form, promotional offer, or other written purchase document specifies a different expiry period, the expiry terms stated for that specific purchase will apply.

5. Online Courses

5.1 Access Period: Access to online courses is valid only for the time period specified at the time of purchase.

5.2 Prohibition on Sharing: Participants are not permitted to share their login credentials or access to the online portal with any other individual. Any breach of this policy may result in the immediate removal of access without a refund.

5.3 Non-Refundable Policy: All online course purchases are non-refundable.

6.3 No Filming Policy: Filming during classes is strictly prohibited unless expressly authorized by the instructor or staff.

8.5 Dispute Resolution: In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to engage in mediation before pursuing legal action. The successful party in any legal proceedings will be entitled to reasonable legal fees.

8.6 Severability Clause: If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to be fully effective.

About You

Do I need a partner?

No you do not. Contrary to popular belief, this dance is not a "one partner" dance. It is a social dance scene where you will likely dance with new people the entire night. In our classes, most of our students come by themselves, either because they don't have a partner to dance with, or because they are interested in meeting new people. Our classes are designed to teach you leading and following techniques which are smooth and clear, enabling you to dance with anyone, not only a partner (if you have one) or people in your classes.

What if I don't have any dance experience?

Our beginner courses aim to teach you all you need to know to start dancing Salsa and the other Latin Dances. It is very common for people to feel "funny" or awkward in the beginning, but stick with it and push through those feelings. You will soon reap the benefits of increased confidence and can relax and have fun. We strongly believe in foundation and communication through your lead and follow that are universal to Salsa (and the other partner dances). With a little time and persistence, you will be able to lead or follow almost anyone, even people you have never danced with before or people from other countries.

Who are the lessons for?

Our lessons are for adults of all experience levels who want to feel more comfortable, confident, and natural on the dance floor.

We work with complete beginners, people returning to dance after time away, experienced dancers who want to improve specific skills, individuals, couples, and wedding couples preparing for their first dance.

You do not need to be coordinated, experienced, or naturally “good at dancing” before you begin. We meet you where you are and tailor the lesson to your goals, comfort level, and learning style.

What if I have no rhythm and two left feet?

You are not alone. Many people feel that way, but we have great teaching techniques, extensive experience and knowledge that we will pass on to you which will enable you to "grow a right foot" :-).

In fact, our number one goal is to create great dancers who have fun no matter how much experience they have had in the past!

I already have dance experience. Are private lessons still right for me?

Yes. Private lessons are a great option if you already have dance experience and want more personalized feedback.

We can focus on the areas that matter most to you, whether that is improving technique, connection, musicality, confidence, leading or following, styling, or learning a new dance style.

Because the lesson is tailored to your level and goals, you can spend your time working on exactly what will help you progress rather than repeating material you already know.

What should I wear?

You may start off feeling cold, but by the end of the first 10 minutes you'll be sweating! Make sure it isn't too long so that you don't trip. Yoga pants, khakis, shorts, t-shirts and tank tops are ideal.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

For ladies, the best choice, if you are willing to invest some money, would be professional dance shoes, but they are not necessary to start a beginner class. Any flat shoe, or heeled shoe with a smooth sole that will stay on your foot will work. No sandals or heavy clunky shoes is preferable. For men, any shoe that has a thin profile bottom is better than a clunky rubber-soled shoe. You can also just wear your socks if you have nothing else that works :-)

What Music CDs or Artists do you recommend?

Salsa: Africando, Celia Cruz, Mark Anthony, Ray Barretto, Hector Lavoie, Tito Puente, Fruko y Sus Tesos, La Sonora Carrouseles,DLG, Eddie Palmieri, El Gran Combo, Willie Colon, Carlos Vives, Adolescentes, Oscar de Leon, Grupo Niche, Victor Manuelle, Jose Alberto El Canario, Thalia, La India, Brenda Star
Cumbia:Rafaga
Bachata Musicians : Monchy y Alexandra, Aventura,
Merengue: Alex Bueno, Elvis Crespo
Tango: Forever Tango Compilation, Color Tango, Osvaldo Pugliese, Astor Piazzolla
Tango Nuevo: Bajo Fondo, Gotan Project
Cha Cha: Buena Vista Social Club

Our Classes

How do private lessons work?

Private lessons are personalized to your goals, experience level, and the type of dancing you want to learn.

Lessons are booked by appointment and can be for individuals, couples, or wedding couples. We focus on exactly what you need, whether that is learning the basics, improving technique, building confidence, working on partner connection, or preparing a wedding dance.

Once your lesson is booked, you will receive the location and any other details you need by email.

How do online lessons and courses work?

Our online lessons and courses are designed so you can learn from home at your own pace.

Depending on the program, you may learn through pre-recorded video lessons, virtual instruction, or a combination of both. You can pause, replay, and practise the material as often as your access period allows.

Each course is designed to make learning simple and easy to follow, with clear instruction you can practise on your own or with a partner.

What is your approach to teaching?

Our approach is simple: we meet you where you are and teach in a way that helps you feel comfortable, capable, and confident as you learn.

We break dance down into clear, manageable steps and focus on helping you understand not just what to do, but how to make it feel natural.

Private lessons are personalized to your experience level, goals, learning style, and the dance skills you want to develop. Online courses are designed so you can learn progressively, practise at your own pace, and revisit material whenever you need to.

We believe learning to dance should feel encouraging and enjoyable, not intimidating or overwhelming. The goal is not simply to memorize steps. It is to help you become a more confident dancer who can actually use what you have learned.

What dance styles do you teach?

We teach a variety of partner and social dance styles, including Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, Merengue, and wedding dance.

Private lessons can be customized around the style you want to learn, whether you are starting from the beginning, brushing up on your skills, or focusing on a specific goal.

For wedding couples, we can also work with the song and style that best fits your first dance, even if it does not fall neatly into one traditional dance category.

Do you offer group lessons?

We do not currently offer regularly scheduled public group classes.

Our focus is on private lessons, wedding dance instruction, and online courses. We can also be hired to teach private group lessons for celebrations, corporate events, parties, or other special gatherings.

If you are looking for a private group dance experience, contact us and we can discuss what would work best for your group.

Connection Coaching Terms and Conditions

These Connection Coaching Terms and Conditions apply to coaching, courses, programs, workshops, assessments, private sessions, group coaching, and related educational services provided by Baila Vancouver Dance Inc. dba DanceToday.FUN and/or Nina Perez (“Coach,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By purchasing or participating in Connection Coaching services, the client (“Client” or “you”) agrees to the following terms.

1. Coaching Relationship

Connection Coaching is a collaborative educational and coaching relationship designed to support the Client’s personal, professional, communication, confidence, charisma, connection, and/or business goals.

The coaching relationship is not a legal partnership, employment relationship, therapeutic relationship, or other professional relationship. It is more similar to a teacher-student or coach-client relationship.

The Client understands that successful coaching requires active participation from both the Coach and the Client.

2. Scope of Services

The specific coaching services included in a purchase will be described on the applicable sales page, checkout page, invoice, receipt, registration page, written offer, or individual coaching agreement.

Services may include private coaching, group coaching, courses, workshops, assessments, educational materials, recordings, exercises, feedback, or other coaching resources.

Only the services specifically included in the Client’s purchase are included.

3. Program Fees and Payment

The Client agrees to pay the price stated at the time of purchase.

Prices are subject to change for future purchases, renewals, programs, or services. A change in pricing does not affect a purchase that has already been completed.

Applicable taxes will be added where required.

4. Payment Plans

Where a payment plan is offered, the Client understands that the payment plan is a method of paying the full purchase price and is not a pay-as-you-go arrangement.

By selecting a payment plan, the Client agrees to complete all scheduled payments.

Stopping participation, missing sessions, failing to complete the program, or deciding not to continue does not cancel the Client’s remaining payment obligations.

If a scheduled payment is declined or overdue, access to coaching sessions, programs, courses, portals, recordings, or other materials may be suspended until payment has been brought up to date.

5. Refund Policy

All Connection Coaching purchases are final sale and non-refundable unless otherwise expressly stated in writing at the time of purchase.

No refunds will be provided because the Client changes their mind, does not participate, does not complete the program, misses sessions, does not use available resources, or decides the service is no longer suitable for them.

Any exception must be expressly approved in writing by Baila Vancouver Dance Inc. Granting an exception in one circumstance does not create an obligation to provide the same exception in the future.

6. Cancellation and Rescheduling of Coaching Sessions

The Client must provide at least 24 hours' notice when cancelling or rescheduling a scheduled private coaching session.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed sessions or no-shows, may be considered used and may not be rescheduled.

The Coach may make reasonable exceptions at their discretion. Providing an exception on one occasion does not change this policy.

Your Joshua agreement already used the 24-hour cancellation rule and permitted charging the scheduled session for missed or late-cancelled appointments.

7. Termination

Where applicable to an ongoing coaching relationship, either the Client or Coach may terminate the coaching relationship by providing written notice.

Termination by the Client does not entitle the Client to a refund of amounts already paid and does not eliminate outstanding payment obligations associated with a program or package that has already been purchased.

The Coach may terminate or suspend services where the Client fails to make required payments, repeatedly fails to attend scheduled sessions, violates these Terms and Conditions, behaves inappropriately toward the Coach or other participants, or otherwise makes continuation of the coaching relationship unreasonable.

8. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • communicate honestly and openly;
  • be receptive to feedback and suggestions;
  • take responsibility for their own decisions and actions;
  • participate in the coaching process to the extent they choose;
  • determine how coaching concepts are incorporated into their personal, professional, social, or business life;
  • take responsibility for implementing any exercises, techniques, practices, or strategies discussed during coaching; and
  • seek appropriate qualified professional assistance when necessary.

These responsibilities closely reflect the provisions in the original agreement stating that the client determines how to incorporate coaching and is responsible for implementing the techniques learned.

9. Coach Responsibilities

The Coach agrees to:

  • provide coaching and educational services professionally and in good faith;
  • provide the services and materials included in the Client’s purchase;
  • be present and prepared for scheduled coaching sessions;
  • provide coaching, instruction, observations and feedback within the scope of the purchased service; and
  • respect the Client’s privacy subject to the limitations stated in these Terms.

The original agreement also included a specific promise to answer texts or emails within 48 hours.

I would leave that 48-hour promise out of your universal website terms unless you want that to be a commitment for every coaching client you ever take on.

10. Coaching Is Not Therapy or Professional Healthcare

Connection Coaching is an educational and coaching service.

The Client understands that coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, medical care, mental health treatment, diagnosis, or treatment of any medical or psychological condition.

The Coach is not acting as the Client’s physician, psychologist, psychotherapist, counsellor, lawyer, accountant, financial adviser, or other licensed professional.

The Client is responsible for seeking appropriate professional advice or treatment where necessary.

If the Client is currently receiving professional medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, financial, or other professional care, coaching is not intended to replace that care.

This is one of the strongest sections worth preserving from your original agreement.

11. No Guarantee of Results

The Client understands that coaching results depend on many factors, including the Client’s participation, decisions, actions, consistency, circumstances, and implementation.

The Coach does not guarantee any particular personal, social, relationship, professional, financial, business, or other outcome.

Examples, testimonials, stories, or results from other clients do not constitute a promise or guarantee that the Client will achieve the same or similar results.

Your existing agreement already states that the company cannot guarantee specific outcomes.

12. Client Responsibility for Decisions and Actions

The Client remains fully responsible for all decisions, actions, and consequences arising from how they choose to use information, exercises, strategies, observations, or recommendations provided through coaching.

The Coach does not make decisions on behalf of the Client.

13. Confidentiality

Private one-to-one coaching sessions will be treated as confidential to the extent reasonably possible.

The Client understands that a coaching relationship does not have the same legally protected confidentiality as certain professional relationships such as lawyer-client or some healthcare relationships.

Information may be disclosed where required by law or where disclosure is reasonably necessary in response to an immediate safety concern.

Your original agreement made this distinction between ordinary coaching confidentiality and legally privileged relationships.

14. Group Coaching and Group Confidentiality

Clients participating in group coaching understand that other participants may hear information they choose to share.

Each participant is expected to respect the privacy of other participants and not intentionally disclose another participant’s personal information outside the group.

However, because the Coach cannot control the actions of every participant, the Coach cannot guarantee confidentiality of information voluntarily shared by a Client in a group setting.

15. Recordings

Certain online classes, programs, workshops, or group coaching sessions may be recorded.

Where a session will be recorded, participants will be informed as appropriate.

Private coaching sessions will not automatically be used publicly for advertising, training, testimonials, or promotional purposes merely because the Client purchased coaching.

Separate permission may be requested if the Coach wishes to use an identifiable Client recording, testimonial, photograph, story, or likeness for marketing purposes.

I deliberately changed this from Joshua's agreement. His contract gave broad rights to use recordings and likeness and said group recordings could be used for future training. For a general website agreement, I would not automatically apply that to every future client.

16. Course Portals and Account Access

Online course, membership, program, portal, and educational-material access is for the purchaser’s personal use only.

Clients may not share usernames, passwords, login credentials, course access, downloads, recordings, or paid materials with another person unless expressly permitted in writing.

Unauthorized sharing may result in suspension or termination of access without refund.

The original agreement contains the same basic prohibition against sharing portal passwords and login information.

17. Intellectual Property

All proprietary coaching materials, frameworks, training materials, videos, recordings, worksheets, exercises, presentations, graphics, documents, course content, methods, and other educational materials provided by the Coach remain the intellectual property of their respective owner unless otherwise expressly stated.

Purchasing a program or coaching service gives the Client a limited right to use the materials personally.

The Client may not copy, reproduce, sell, distribute, publish, teach, sublicense, share, or otherwise commercially exploit the materials without prior written permission.

The Joshua agreement similarly protects written, printed, graphic and electronically recorded materials as well as proprietary techniques and strategies.

18. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Coach and Baila Vancouver Dance Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from the Client’s participation in coaching services.

To the extent permitted by law, total liability arising from the coaching services will not exceed the amount actually paid by the Client for the service giving rise to the claim.

The original agreement contains substantially this type of limitation.

19. Force Majeure

Neither party will be responsible for a delay or failure to perform obligations caused by circumstances reasonably beyond their control, including natural disasters, severe weather, government restrictions, widespread internet or technology failures, labour disruptions, emergencies, or similar events.

The affected obligations may be postponed for a reasonable period while the circumstances continue.

This comes directly from the concept in Section 14 of the Joshua agreement.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

21. Entire Agreement and Purchase-Specific Terms

These Terms and Conditions, together with the applicable checkout page, invoice, receipt, registration page, sales page, written offer, or individual coaching agreement, form the agreement governing the Client’s purchase.

Where a particular offer contains additional terms relating to price, duration, number of sessions, program access, bonuses, expiry, payment schedule, or deliverables, those purchase-specific terms also apply.

This is especially useful for you because it means you do not need to rewrite the universal terms every time you create a new coaching offer.

22. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions will be governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada.

23. Acceptance of Terms

By purchasing, registering for, accessing, or participating in Connection Coaching services, the Client acknowledges that they have had an opportunity to review these Terms and Conditions and agrees to be bound by them.

Where electronic acceptance is requested, clicking “I agree to the Terms and Conditions” constitutes the Client’s acceptance of these Terms.
